The official name of the town is Teulada-Moraira, with the Teulada area located slightly inland on a hillside. This is where offices, banks and shops are mostly located, which serve both Moraira and Teulada. Moraira denotes the beach and port areas, and is more attractive to tourists and expats, and here you can find plenty of things to do in the way of bars and restaurants, and there is also an attractive marina.
Every Wednesday, there is a street market held in Teuleda, where you can buy fresh local produce as well as hand-crafted items and clothes bargains. The same market is held in Moraira port area on Fridays.
If you have young children, you will find Moraira to be very family-friendly, and a pleasant place to raise a family. By the beach there is a park where children can play while the adults enjoy a drink in one of the nearby bars.
Sports enthusiasts can enjoy water sports in the resort during the summer – activities include water and jet skiing along with parasailing. The town also has a small cove – El Portet. This is a perfect place for tranquility, although it can get quite crowded in the summer.
For those who like to go to socialise with their fellow countrymen, you will find several British style pubs in Moraira, along with locales offering live music. However some of these close up during the quiet winter months, so Moraira is probably the optimal choice if a year-round lively social life is very important to you.
Moraira is only 40 minutes from Benidorm by car, so within easy driving distance if you want to experience a bigger resort and all that Benidorm offers by way of attractions.
All Costa Blanca resorts will please golf enthusiasts due to the range of top class courses the area offers, and Moraira doesn’t disappoint. Golfers can enjoy a round at the Club de Golf Ifach, which is less than 2.5 miles away.
Property in Moraira
The style of properties in the charming town of Moraira reflects the fact that just 40 years ago the town consisted only of a small cluster of cottages by the sea belonging to local fishermen.
Strict building regulations and thoughtful town planning means Moraira is one of the more attractive resorts on the Costa Blanca. You will not find any high-rise buildings here, and although there are a limited number of apartment blocks, they are only a few stories high and located only in the village centre. Thanks to these regulations, Moraira retains a clear uncluttered sky and coastline.
Pricewise, properties in Moraira are on par with neighbouring Javea. For example, a well-kept resale 2-bedroom apartment will cost around 125,000€ so although the resort has a somewhat exclusive feel, when it comes to cost, Moraira is very accessible for most.
Access to the main road to Valencia and Alicante is much closer if you live in Moraira than neighbouring Javea or Denia. This makes it a lot faster to drive to the airport, which can be a blessing during the summer months when the smaller roads are congested.
In theory you could reach Moraira form Alicante, Valencia or Murcia Airports, but Alicante is the best choice as it is the closest at 60 miles away.
Teulada-Moraira has one of the most desirable climates in the whole of Spain, so it is little wonder so many choose to relocate to this part of the coast. Warm sunny days are the norm for most of the year. During the coldest winter months of January and February temperatures may fall to 10°C, but colder days is rare and rainy days few and far between.
