Calpe is on the northern part of the Costa Blanca between the popular tourist towns of Moraira and Benidorm. Although nowhere near as built up and populated as Benidorm, Calpe is well-visited during the summer months; and if you are considering Calpe for relocation you will not be short of company from your part of the world, as Calpe has a relatively large expat population; hailing mainly from the UK, Holland, and Germany.

Calpe has just about anything you could wish for if you are looking for a new home, including a fantastic choice of beaches, excellent restaurants, beautiful weather and a relaxed way of life.

Calpe is well-known for its famous landmark, a 1000 ft. high towering peak known as the Peon de Ifach. The Peon de Ifach is a large rock that juts out between the two main beaches of Calpe. You can visit the rock and even climb to the summit for magnificent views. As well as the two long principal beaches there are several more secluded coves and natural bays nearby.

For those who like being in nature, there are two spectacular natural salt lakes situated behind the town, and here you’ll find a diverse variety of wildlife including rare and unusual birds. The salt lakes also provide a microclimate that ensures that Calpe has excellent weather more or less throughout the entire year.

The old town of Calpe is well preserved, and you can see evidence of how people lived when Calpe was a simple fishing village. There are two museums in the town, the Museo Festor and the Museo Arquelogico. Here you will get a taste of Calpe’s rich history, and also see artifacts from the Moors that used to inhabit the town between the eighth and 13th centuries.

Calpe provides plenty of nightlife and entertainment for both foreign visitors and locals. If you enjoy eating out, you are well catered for as there is a great selection of fresh seafood restaurants as well as cafes selling international dishes. During the summer season the bars are pretty lively as young people congregate in Calpe from around the surrounding villages.

Calpe Property

In Calpe town centre there is a good choice of residential apartment blocks. The top part of the town is more family orientated, and here you will find a selection of 3 and 4 bedroom apartments. The lower seaside has smaller 1 and 2 bedroom properties, and this part is popular with tourists, so also tends to be livelier in the summer. Quality in the lower part varies widely, but this is generally well reflected in the price. Whichever area you decide on, you will find supermarkets and local services nearby.

You could also opt for a townhouse or villa on the outskirts of Calpe if you prefer a more peaceful location.
