Although the resort of Altea is less 10 minutes’ drive from Benidorm, culturally the two resorts are completely different. Altea is popular with holidaymakers and expats who enjoy a quiet relaxing atmosphere, whereas Benidorm is a mecca for the younger crowd and those who like to party. Although tranquil, Altea is an interesting town with plenty to do and offers historic buildings, quaint cobbled streets, and a beautiful old church.

In the old town, you can find shops selling typical Spanish goods along with traditional Spanish style restaurants and bars. Popular with artists, it is fair to say Altea is the most charming resort along this part of the coast.

Although not a large town, Altea has many attractions including a stylish marina, a lively promenade, and its fair share of bars and cafes. You will never be stuck for something to do here if you decide to relocate, as Benidorm, Calpe, and even Alicante are within easy reach should you desire a livelier atmosphere.

Altea is very popular with golfers, and the Altea Club de Golf is as good as many of the other top golf courses in the area. So if you are a golf enthusiast, Altea is a town to consider for relocation.
