Costa Blanca Regions

The Costa Blanca can be divided into two areas; Costa Blanca North, and Costa Blanca South.

Costa Blanca North

The Northern region of the Costa Blanca is mountainous and rockier than the Southern part, which lends to some spectacular scenery. This part of the coast is very popular with ramblers and hikers, as there are 20 natural parks in the area, along with a fabulous selection of both sandy and pebble beaches. With the blatant exception of Benidorm, due to strict building regulations in place to preserve the natural beauty of the area, the northern part of Spain's white coast is less developed than the southern part. Costa Blanca North is famous worldwide for its substantial production of fresh produce. Oranges, lemons, olives, cherries, and even almonds are cultivated here to be exported around the world.

Towns on the Northern end of the Costa Blanca include the popular resorts of Javea, Denia and Calpe, or you could opt for a smaller market town such as Pedreguer or Benitachell.

Popular Costa Blanca North towns and villages:

Alcoy, Altea, Benissa, Benidorm, Benitachell, Calpe, Cocentaina, Denia, El Campello, Elda and Petrer, Gandia, Guadalest, Javea, Jijona, Moraira, Oliva, Pedreguer, Teulada, and La Villajoyosa.

Costa Blanca South

Scenery-wise, the southern part of the Costa Blanca is less dramatic than the more rugged North. The coastline is flatter, and becomes more arid as you travel further south. However, thousands of holiday makers and expats are attracted to the area every year which boosts miles of white sandy beaches, lush palm trees and the amazing salt lakes.

Probably partly due to the amazing choice of golf courses in the area, there is a large expat population in the South, residing in towns like Torrevieja, Villamartin and Playa Flamenca.

Property for sale on the Southern Costa Blanca consists of plenty of new developments including gated and golfing communities as well as a vast choice of re-sale properties, plenty of which have fantastic investment potential.

Popular Costa Blanca South towns and villages:

Alicante, Guardamar del Segura, Rojales, Algorfa, Torrevieja, San Miguel de Salinas, Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Dehesa de Campoamor, Pilar de la Horadada, Club de Golf Villamartin, and Club de Golf Las Ramblas de Orihuela.
