The Palmeral of Europe in Elche
Elche the third city within the autonomous region of Valencia, and it’s recognized for its palm trees of which 456 hectares of palms in existence in all of Spain, 85% of them are found here. Surely, no one would have guessed that a couple of hundred years ago the ¨fenicos”, travelling salesmen would plant the first illicit palms as a principal element in decorating the area and they achieved it, years later we could appreciate their efforts and admire their grandiose project. A stroll through The Palmeral is curious and impressive. There is much more to see than just the palm trees, we could comptemplate the botanical gardens, orchards and all its surrounding that give us life within this illustrious park.
