Going shopping at a “mercadillo” otherwise knows to us as a swap-meet is for some a weekly ritual performed month after month. There’re people who only shop there for their fruits and vegetables, others go to see what kind of deals they could get, while many others just go out of pure curiosity. Whatever the reason for going to a swap-meet is, one thing is for sure, hundreds of people attend every week.
In the Costa Blanca each town offers its own swap-meet on small streets to the public once or twice a week. All you need is your shopping cart, sun hat, comfortable shoes and some cash. Here you will find anything from books, shoes, clothing, jewelry, tablecloths and many , many other items.
Each post boasts on having the best price, but you need to compare and negotiate before making a final purchase. If you have never visited one of these “mercadillos”, grab a friend and have some fun. Just make sure to get there bright and early to beat the crowds of shopping addicts.
