Xàbia will be all jazz this weekend

This weekend between the 4th and 8th of July, the VII international Jazz festival will be held in Xàbia.  This year will be a great year for this festival with Perico Sambeat the valencian saxophone player as a leader in this event.

The concerts will take place in the Graull School. The American singer and guitarist Madeleine Peyroux, a great admirer of Billie Holiday and French music will present her third album titled Half the Perfect World on the 4th.

On the 5th the Manouche Jazz All Star led by Tchavolo Schmitt, considered the most profound and creative guitarists inherited from Django Reinhardt, will bring the best of European gitano jazz.

The composer and saxophonist Perico Sambeat will present in Xàbia Jazz the 6th of August the result of years of work with a repertoire totally created for the occasion in which different aspects of flamenco, the martinete, the guajira, the soleá, the nana and the tanguillot will be heard.

On the seventh it is Jazz Tribe’s turn with the percussionist Ray Mantilla and the saxophonist Bobby Watson, who was the musical director for the legendary Jazz Messengers of Art Blakey. In their concert, the group will perform a mix of jazz, blued and Latin elements, all with jazz origins.

Finally the group Energy will close the VII Xàbia Jazz on the 8th with a tribute to Jimmy Smith, the spiritual father of the modern jazz organ responsible for the unforgettable sound. This concert only is Spain demonstrate the Hammond organ as a first rate instrument.
