Costa Blanca is not all about sun and the beach, there are also many other exciting events such as mountainous routes and today we are going to offer you one of those routes thanks to the awesome blog called Linkalicante.

As a starting point, we will begin in the small town of Quatretondeta. Here is a map to help you get here by car from Benidorm.

Once we get to Quatretondeta by car, we start the route by leaving the town by a asphalt slope, which passes along walnut trees. From this point there are signs describing the trail.

Initially you walk on a path between terraces, then to pass along to a great oak and a huge mansion. From there on, the trail gets a little steep until you get to the Espinal fountain.

From the fountain, the forest trail is transformed into a trail that climbs meandering between a grove of pines. Once we leave this forest we will come to a stone quarry, not very big, at the end of which there is a vertical wall. On the right we see the side branches that lead us to “Els Frares.

Then comes one of the most beautiful parts of the trail where everything seems to become level again, but still at a great altitude. We approach what would be the cleavage formed by the two major slopes. On the left, the other side of the ravine, there is a huge stone quarry, about five hundred meters long. A bit farther we pass through a narrow passage, which appears to have some little steps. Then we move towards the cleavage, until we reach another little fountain.

After we resume our march along a forest track we get to a crossroad. Towards the left we find a pile of cut firewood. The peak is around here, looking towards Guadalest, so we must go up. We we see precious plains along the trail which are marked. A few more steps and we arrive at a very large snowfield. A little more and we will culminate the trail in a cross with the sign, Plà de la Casa, 1.379 meter.

We congratulate the Benidorm tourist centre, since it has been about a week that the new bus station has been inaugurated.

Since it opened its doors, the new terminal offers departures and arrivals of provincial, regional, national and international services.

The new station, located in the Avd de la Comunidad Europea, expects to receive close to a million persons between residents and tourists.

This new infrastructure is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It will also avoid that more than 200 buses enter daily through the city.

To get to the station, you could take the urban busses number 41 and 11, or the service of the taxis of Benidorm.

Vins.jpg

One of the great pleasures in life, for me at least is being able to enjoy good food and be surrounded by nature at its best. For that reason I love to explore new places and one of those places I have discovered in the enological routes through the province of Alicante designed by Esatur and Vins del Comtat.

This initiative offers a series of excursions to discover the province of Alicante in a different way, through the aroma of its wines and the taste of its gastronomy, visiting its vineyards, and all the history that surrounds the world of wine.

This cultural experience should be shared with friends, family members or a team of co-workers, in order to enjoy truly appreciate its meaning in society and feel the culture of this land that offers such a rich history.

In these day trips you could truly enjoy a complete gastronomical and cultural adventure by the hands of El Comtat. You can see how the wine is processes, where it comes from while you enjoy the best gastronomy of the Mediterranean region.

Wine Club, Maserof

Posted by syameses on 08 May 2007 | Tagged as: entertainment, tours, travel

The Maserof is the typical old mountain cabin from the XVIII century located on the way to the Sierra de Bernia just 5 kilometers from Jalon, and only 25 Km from Denia and 32 Km from Benidorm. A perfect place to get away from today and get to yesterday.

Here you can observe a farm that is more than 300 years old with a lot of history and a wine club that allows members to buy several vines of which they receive about 20 bottles of from their own vines each year or they are held for the next years.

With a museum in which you can learn everything you want about this little place, this is a magical place that no one who visits the Costa Blanca should miss.

Fonts De Algar, a spring day trip

Posted by syameses on 11 Apr 2007 | Tagged as: tours

I think the weather is finally going to change, after all these days of rain and cold we will finally be able to experience spring. After so many days stuck at home we need a little getaway and one of the most beautiful places around the Costa Blanca for me are the Font de Algar.

High behind the Altea mountains sits this beautiful place with spectacular waterfall and cascades that will leave you breathless. You can swim in the natural pools that surround this tropical paradise. You can also visit the environmental museum and eat in a restaurant that offers sights and sounds that are like nothing you have ever experienced.
