Spain will compete for the European Cup soccer-beach championship

The Levante beach in Benidorm will be the host of the European qualifying pahse for for the World Cup beach-soccer championship  that will be celebrated from the 13th to the 18th May, this year it will  take place on the beach of Prado Marseille.

This competition will determine the four teams that will represent Europe in the World Championships.

The competition will be televised  in 130 countries and the mayor of Benidorm has stated that this event will contribute to the international dissemination of the image of the city.

Benidorm has tripled luxury hotel rooms in 8 years

The evolution of tourism in Benidorm has been spectacular. In fact, the luxury hotel rooms in the tourist capital of the Costa Blanca have tripled over the past 8 years. In this sense, the supply of hotels of four and five stars is already at about 35% of the total.

Data confirms that, in 2000, Benidorm had 33,143 hotel rooms, of which 4,472 were four stars, thats to say, 13.49% of the offer. For the next season, it will have climbed 22 percentage points to reach 34.7%, or 13,023 persons within a supply of 37,500 beds.

Thus, Benidorm has gone from not having any five-star establishments in 2000 to having three, and from having 12 four-star hotels eight years ago to having 25 facilities in the present.

The city is enhancing its image in order for Benidorm not be associated only with the sun and sand. In fact, it has been demonstrating in recent years that the town has great  leisure offers including golf courses, theme parks and entertainment such ast he Count of Alfaz Castle , Terra Mitica or Terra Natura.

The beaches of Benidorm are distinguished with the award of Tourism Quality

The beaches of Benidorm have a wonderful health,as they have just received the “Q” for tourist  quality granted by the Quality Tourism Institute (ICTE) in the course of an event held  last Wednesday in the general mezzanine of the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid.

With this distinction it is  fair to recognize the work done by institutions, companies and businessmen who have devoted their time to increase the quality of the Benidorm beaches. The tourist capital of the Costa Blanca, received the diploma for the care, maintenance and manning the beaches of Benidorm.

The beaches of Benidorm are fashionable, and they have the management and ISO certifications and environmental quality on an ongoing basis are subject to audits undertaken by outside companies and the department itself municipal beaches. It has an important policing and service rescuers throughout the year.

Benidorm will be well represented in the next edition of FITUR 2008

The international Tourism Fair of Madrid (FITUR2008) is closer each day. In this important event there will be the presence of many municipalities of the Costa Blanca, among them Benidorm could not miss the event.  Alongside all of them the hotels Magic Costa Blanca will be highly represented, that will introduce many novelties.

On the eve of this event the FITUR’2008, Alicante presented the stand of the Valencian Community yesterday which will gather the entertainment offer of  the  of 96 municipalities of the three provinces, with special mention to some big events, such as the urban circuit of Formula One, the World Athletics and the Volvo Ocean Race .

The pavilion 5 of the IFEMA Exhibition Centre, with 10,500 square meters, will offer the four Valencian destinations, with 96 municipalities and 3 commonwealths, during the days of the fair, which is being held from January 30th to February 2nd.

Furthermore, the Valencia Street Circuit (Circuit Formula 1), the Volvo Ocean Race, World Athletics, the America’s Cup, la luz de las imagenes, the Palau de les Art Reina Sofia, Ciudad de la Luz and the Castellon Airport will have their own booth.

The four communities that will participate will be: Castelló-Costa Azahar, Valencia Terra i Mar, Benidorm and Costa Blanca.

In addition to the destinations and major events mentioned above, there will be space for large projects, associations and federations, offering cultural, sporting and interior, such as the Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ), the Palm, the Mystery d ‘Elx and  the Year Miguel Hernandez.

Benidorm receives more visits than Monaco and Rio de Janeiro

Benidorm continuous to be one of the key destination spots of this country, it is placed on one of the most important tourist lists, which includes about 150 world destinations visited by foreigners.

The top 150 City Destinations Ranking, developed by Euromonitor International, maintains that Benidorm is situated in the number 33 spot, with almost 2.5 million visitors in 2006.

The capital of the Costa Blanca surpasses, among other great cities, Rio de Janeiro and Monaco. This prestigious indicator is headed by London, Bangkok and Paris, with more than 10 million tourists during one year.

The air quality in Benidorm is excellent

The tourists and neighbours of Benidorm could feel safe, knowing that the air quality they are breathing throughout the city is excellent, according to a report prepared by the Counsel of Environment.

Benidorm authorities have stated that the levels of sulphur dioxides and nitrogen, carbon monoxide and lead do not exceed the levels that are set by the current regulation.

The environment measurer, located in the ecopark of the city, reflects that the quality of air “is very far” from any contaminated parameter.

The contamination atmosphere measure realizes daily air registers in real time and transfers the information to a data reception centre named the Centre of Atmospheric Control of the Generalitat.

The population of the Marina Baixa prefers to live on the coast

We all the love the sun and the beach, it is not only the tourist but the proper inhabitants of the Costa Blanca that need sunshine. According to information provided by the National Statistic Institute, eight out of every ten inhabitants from the Alicante region of Marina Baixa live in one of the five beach cities, such as Benidorm, Vila Joiosa, Mallow, LÁfas del Pi and Finestrat. 

Since the year 2000 the coast has registered 31,517 new inhabitants, whereas the mountain region which includes 13 municipalities including The Nucia and Polop only registered 8,641 more, hence the growth is 3.6 times superior in the areas that are already more populated.

Nevertheless, the city of Benidorm has stabilized its demographic growth in the last years, growing 24.5 per cent in the period of 2000-2006, whereas its nearby populations have increased immensely according to the INE.

Benidorm has reached in the past years a population of 67,627 inhabitants, but it has grown 6.4 points below the regional average.

The population increase in the city has been gradual up until the 80s where the population stabilized, whereas the nearby towns have experienced a strong growth.

Benidorm continuous to work in a very professional way to make sure that all its tourist services have the proper seals and distinctions of quality. In this occasion, the city has published a letter of services for beaches, a pre requisite to obtain the European quality  “Q”.

Actually, the beaches of Benidorm already posses the ISO 14001 certificates for environmental quality number 9001.

In order to obtain the “Q” it is necessary to publish the letter of services of the beaches. Already there are 2,000 letters written in Spanish and another thousand in valencian, English and Dutch.

Between the numerous services in these texts are the Levante beach characteristics, the bath season, the beach services, the accessible points, the cleanliness duties, security ect..The incidences indicators, the objectives planned for the year and the complaint and suggestion system, as well as a map of indication for everything you can find in the beach.

The Costa Blanca becomes the first tourist spot in the Spain

The attraction to the Costa Blanca is greater by the day, it is so, that this past summer for the first time it surpassed the Costa del Sol and again won by the number of tourist to the Costa Daurada, the island of Mallorca and had more Spaniards in its hotels than Madrid and Barcelona.

The tourism diversification, the sun and the beach have achieved 600,000 clients and in the months of July and August in the Costa Blanca.

During this month the national tourism is also experiencing excellent numbers, there is a 90% +registration account on all hotels and this is considered a low season and in November the reservations are already at 60%.
