City Halls are beginning to realize that they need to offer complimentary activities other than the sun and beach in their communities. Every time I take a stroll by the beach this becomes more evident to me. The other day I went to rest in the Playa de San Juan, Alicante and a saw a tent that help the exhibition titled Neolítico, de nómadas a sedentarios’.

The showing which will be held open until the 31st of August shows men’s evolution in this historic period from the last nomads hunters to the first urban societies. So now aside from taking in some rays and enjoying the water and the sand you could get a little bit more cultured at the same time.  Kids will love this.

The exhibition counts with diverse scenes and representation with human fiberglass figures and resins, animal sculptures, ceramic vessels, stone tools and maps among others.

Arte-japones.jpg

Ever since I traveled to Japan last fall, I love to see things related to this very interesting country here in Spain. By luck I found out about a Japanese’s art exhibition very close to home, concretely in the museum of the Alicante University.

The collection of works is tittles “Japan Prints 1950-1990” and it  unites sixty five sketches realized by forty six Japanese artist such as Ay-O, Shiro Fukasawa, Yukio Fukazawa, Hideo Hagiwara, Chimei Hamada y Masanari Murai. They show a very curious art form.

You can visit the exhibition until the 25th of June. Trust me you will not be disappointed, this mix of technology and tradition is something the Japanese do very well.

Until the 18th of February we will be able to enjoy a wonderful exhibition that the Prado Museum has prepared for us. Highly recommendable, these painting have a lot of curios mentions such as the fact that back then when a painter was ordered a portrait they made sure all the wrinkles appeared but that could be fixed depending if the price was right, except in the case of Goya.

This is a wonderful opportunity to come see famous art works without having to travel to Madrid and visit the Padro Museum. You will be able to see works from El Greco, Murillo or Goya and 6 of their portraits. A total of 63 pieces from 36 different artist from three different centuries , that will allow you to experience the evolution of time and style of our country.

Colorful Art in Costa Blanca

Posted by syameses on 19 Jan 2007 | Tagged as: curiosities, alicante, art

There are many different types of art form and Reflexism is a technique that uses light as the main element when creating an art piece. Initiated back in the early 70´s by José Antonio Cía who developed this new technique using aluminum materials which worked in the right way produce a 3D illusion of light art.

Art and innovation, in an era where holograms did not exist, made this type of art work an important advancement more than Op-Art which had its origins in the Costa Blanca.
