Agres the lovely town

Agres is one of the most picturesque mountain towns situated in the Sierra de Mariola, north of the province of Alicante. The population of this town does not exceed 700 habitants, which translates in to an escape from the big city life
Although it is considered a small town there is much to see and contemplate here like, the parish church of San Miguel, the Sanctuary of La Mare de Déu del Castell (also known as the convent), and various fountains called: La font del Mig; La Fonteta; La Font de Baix; La Font del Raval, La Font de L’Assut y la Font del Convent in which every visitor must stop and take a sip of water from each one.
Agres is a place where time has stood still. It still conserves in perfect conditions a public laundry area where even today there are women who go there to clean their clothes. One must visit this place slowly to be able to enjoy all it offers. With typical dishes such as Arroz caldoso con judías, cardos y nabos (rice with different types of beans) a day in Agres is a must.
