One of the cinema greats, American Francis Ford Coppola, visited the Ciudad de la Luz studios yesterday to see if there was a possibility of finishing the end of his new project in the cinematography complex.

The author of jewels such as the “Godfather”, “Apocalypse Now” and “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” is thinking of initiating a new project in Argentina about the history of two brothers. Coppola is looking to see if he could finish filming here in Alicante.

Coppola explained yesterday that the movie which will be initially filmed in Buenos Aires is a story about family history “about fathers, brothers and sons”, that he classified as “very emotional”.

The director explained to all the journalists that there is a possibility of completing the filming in Alicante, giving date information as to next March and April. How cool would that be?

Coppola visited the Ciudad de la Luz audiovisual complex where he was given a tour of all sound stages, back lots as well as all the installations. He was very impressed and said that Ciudad de la Luz has a “very complete and modern” installations, especially in the technical sections.

Benidorm is still a great paradise thanks to the tourist offers and diversified entertainment. Nevertheless, snow is not one of the main attractions. But, no problem the lovers of this white sport may benefit from the Ski Campaign 2008 that the Benidorm city hall has set in place. 

The offer this year is composed of four trips to two ski stations in Andorra. The first will be Grandvalira, from the 17^th to the 22^nd of January and the second trip will be from the 20^th to the 25^th of January. The price for this trip is 395 euros.

The second option is Vallnord, on the 10^th to the 15^th of February o the 2^nd to the 7^th of March for 390 euros.

The price includes all ski equipment as well as hotel stay. There is also an option to practice snowboard for an additional 30 euros.

Next Wednesday 31^st of October Benidorm Palace will welcome the Mister and Miss Alicante Pageant which will be celebrated at 20:30.

A total of fifteen women and fifteen men will opt to wear the traditional band, a condition that will allow them to present themselves to the title of Miss and Mister Spain.

For the first time since its creation, the gala will be celebrated together. Among the familiar faces on hand, it has been confirmed the presence of the ex Miss World Jacqueline Aguilera and the ex Miss Spain Maria Jesus Ruis (2004), Veronica Hildago (2005) an Elisabeth Reyes (2006).

There will also be several TV and fashion personalities to witness the event. Some of the guest performers will be Soraya from the television show Operacion Triunfo and Estefania of Monaco´s ex husband Andan Peres.

It seems that the Costa Blanca tourism is enjoying excellent health. Today I read some data that proves just this. The secretary of general tourism assures that during the first eight months of the year the sector has seen over 2,500 million Euros and three million foreign visitors, a 3% increase over 2006.There has also been an increase in the hotel sector with a 75% occupancy in the months of January and July. The highest numbers in the past five years. About 65% of the foreign tourists arrived to the Costa Blanca by their own accounts, the airport being the number one entrance to the province.

The spending average of a foreign tourist has incremented about 1,1% and actually reaches 837 euros. The foreign visitors usually stay an average of 9 days in the Costa Blanca. During their stay they usually spend 92 euros a day.

We congratulate the Benidorm tourist centre, since it has been about a week that the new bus station has been inaugurated.

Since it opened its doors, the new terminal offers departures and arrivals of provincial, regional, national and international services.

The new station, located in the Avd de la Comunidad Europea, expects to receive close to a million persons between residents and tourists.

This new infrastructure is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It will also avoid that more than 200 buses enter daily through the city.

To get to the station, you could take the urban busses number 41 and 11, or the service of the taxis of Benidorm.
