The Summer Benidorm Festival will come to a close this Saturday 8th of September. David Bisbal will be in charge of the closing ceremonies. The concert that will close these festivals will take place in the Bull Ring of Benidorm at 10 pm.

Archeologists of the Vila Joiosa have found an inedited manuscript about the history of the town written in 2890 by the local historians Ignacio Martí Miquel and Francisco Martínez Esquerdo.
The work, named “’Historia de Villajoyosa y Apuntes para la Historia de Villajoyosa” (The history of the Villajoyosa and notes for the history of the Villajoyosa), has three volumes that will be given to the Municipal Museum, because they might contain very valuable data about the local history.
The search for the manuscript was made possible thanks to the collaboration of María Pilar Meced, who recently donated “Copa de Cástulo, an archeological piece dating to before Christ that was owned by Francisco Martínez Esquerdo to the city hall of Vila Joiosa

An exhibition that brings together 32 photographs of José Mario Bienes, all about life in Havana opens the new season of the University of Alicante Museum (MUA), and tries to offer a vision of interior riches, happiness, uncertainty and sadness of its inhabitants.
The initiative titled ‘La Habana: miradas’ (La Havana: looks), allows you to submerge yourself in the human and material World of the capital of Cuba, a humanity treasure.
The exhibition is composed of 32 photographs in which the author offers a particular vision of the citizen of Havana, and how it develops in its different stages: infancy, maturity and old age, within an economic, political and social situation.
The exhibition that was inaugurated on Wednesday will be able for viewing until the end of the month.

Did you know that the in the province of Alicante there are 17 municipal cities which name begins with “Beni”. I’m sure you might be familiar with some of them but Benidorm is by far the most recognizable at a national and international level. It also has the largest population 70,000 and close to 400.000 in the summer.
The prefix “Beni” comes from an Arabic name and signifies family or descendants of the same. This terminology was applied to the towns inhibited by the Muslims, which without changing religion remained in the Christians neighbourhood. After the conquest these Muslims we mostly seen in the sought and east of Spain.
The rest of the alicantino towns with the prefix “Beni” are Beniarbeig 1.315, Beniardá 245, Beniarrés 1.375, Benidoleig 890, Benifallim 155, Benifato 166, Benigembla 488, Benijófar 2.297, Benilloba 903, Benillup 97, Benimantell 402, Benimarfull 420, Benimassot 147, Benimeli 334, Benisa 9.821 y Benitachell 2.383.

Today the majority of mortals begin to work after the long summer vacations, so I will start today with an interesting exhibition so we could take our minds of the first day back to work. “Dreams” is a sample of works that comes to us from the German artist Grete Stern. Photography from the XX century that shows us the realm of dreams.
The exhibition is composed of 64 pieces including photomontages, painting, sculptures and video projections all part of the IVAM collection and has been created by the Fundación Bancaja de Alicante.
Through the montage the realm of the dreams incorporates works from various artist such as André Kertesz, Óscar Domínguez, Herbert List, Horacio Coppola, Laurie Simmons, Miquel Navarro, Dis Berlín, Enrique Marty, Charris or Russell Crotty, among others.
“Dreams” will remain in Alicante until the 30th of September 2007.
