The history of the restaurant El Poblet in Denia does not go back very far, back in the not so long ago 80´s the Poblet was already a well recognized luxury place to eat in the Alicante area. Reunions, dinner with friends, or business lunches were celebrated here.. When you go to the Poblet, you are in for a treat of great seafood and ambiance. With the mastery of head chef and artist Quique Dacosta this restaurant has been elevated to a grand standing of 2 Michelin Stars.
Dacosta´s dishes are getting praise by everyone who visits this delicious restaurant full of details: The best crystal, Versace place settings, and a setting that doesn’t´ miss a single classy shot. The wine list is as exceptional as its menu. Overall this restaurant is raising the bar and is climbing to the head of its class as the leader in contemporary Spanish food. Everything a restaurant should be and much more.
As with anything in this life, the secret to success is simple: passion. Post note, this restaurant is price friendly with an average price tag of about 70 - 80 euros, a total luxury you can´t afford to miss.

Last week was the final week of “Operacion Triunfo” for 2007 (singing televised talent show), being the number one singing festival to date and continuing the long tradition of song festivals of the past decades such as thewell known Festival de la Canción de Benidorm. In 1968 an unknown singer named Julio Iglesia, former goalie for the Real Madrid, won the contest and was an instant success selling hundreds of albums with his hit ‘La vida sigue igual’ (life remains the same). Since then, the festival and the city of Benidorm have formed a bond with this artist, probably the most international star to come from Spain (forgive us los del Rio and las Ketchup). This year the busy artist visited the academy of OT, giving the students lessons on professionalism and giving them an insight into his world, recognizing his short comings but making it clear that with hard work and discipline he was able to succeed.
His style continues to stay with the times, even though his type of singing is no longer a popular one as it once was in the 60´s and 70´s. Without any doubt Julio Iglesias along with Luis Miguel and the late Frank Sinatra are the voices of the love song.

The Archeological museum MARQ is a total luxury. Surrounded by a relaxed atmosphere, with the Santa Barbara Castle of Alicante in the background and with views to the illustrious mountains, you could enjoy getting to know all the historical details of the civilization of the province of Alicante.
From prehistoric times to the romantic period, passing through the commerce of the Mediterranean, the discoveries of archeologists and the vibrant exhibitions of other regions and countries with special mention to the jewels of the Mayan period and ancient Egypt, that are amazing.
The MARQ was named the European Museum of 2004, a little bit after its inauguration. the interior architecture is ceremonial, just to walk in to the museum, just that feeling is an experience in its self but once inside you will be memorized by the illumination, sound and exhibition displays.

This will be the next slogan that will be presented in the next tourist campaign, this to show that Benidorm has everything you are looking for, entertainment, sun, nature, parks, them parks, shopping, culture, conventions and much, much more…
The promotion will also focus on the Natural Park of the Serra Gelada (frozen mountain range), which is a collection of mountain and sea, between Puig Campana and the Island of Benidorm, fantastic places to enjoy nature. Benidorm will also be showcased as the perfect place to play golf.
With so much activity, this brings back memories of the project which intended to convert Benidorm in to an urban circuit to host the Formula 1 Grand Prix, which would give Benidorm that great touch of glamour which would hold Benidorm as the most glamorous city to visit and play golf in.
Benidorm after all is much more than all that, it is the friendly feeling of the people and the great vive of living in the Mediterranean surrounded by friends and family.

A Spanish armed forces ship (from the Davis cup not the other) arrives in Denia on Friday, a minesweeper of the latest generation that belongs to the Force of Measures against mines. We are talking about the Tambre M-33, built in the shipyards of Cartagena and sent off in 1999- This ship counts with the most modern equipment which assures marine security and intents to detect any decontamination of explosives in the sea.
The ship will open its doors to the public all weekend long, for all of those curious about the life on ship like this one with many things to explore. The ship will take students and citizens alike on a small cruise around the sea in the morning. With the return to the dock Friday afternoon, all those who go along for the ride will receive a diploma they could show off to all their friends.

Today we read that Benidorm is the city with the highest hotel occupation in the country, with almost 80%. This means that if you wait until the last minute to make your hotel reservations it will be difficult to find a room in the high season. There has been a tremendous growth in the past years specially during Holy Week and the summer time. So if you are planning a romantic weekend getaway or an entire week or month of vacation, you should reserve NOW!
The report also states that Benidorm is the third city for travelers with only Madrid and Barcelona preceding it. An interesting fact knowing that Mallorca is one of those exclusive touristic cities but Benidorm maintains its 3rd place status. This could be due to the fact that many airliners have made the Costa Blanca its center for touristic operations.
So don´t wait any longer and book today.

Well, the next big holidays are not until April with the arrival of Holy Week, I think we could hold off until then and get ready to have some fun.
Holy Thursday and Friday fall on the 5th and 6th of April in 2007 and the following month May 1st falls on a Monday which will tempt some to fake illness or take an extra day off to extend the holiday since the 2nd is Madrid´s Community Holiday. So we will have one week of fun in April and another in May in anticipation of June and the beginning of summer vacations. Remember the days where you could take one full month off, or 2 if you were in school. Now you barely get 15 days to enjoy but enjoy you will.
Our advice is take advantage of the time you have and enjoy it like a king and queen in a hotel in the beach. Don´t worry about grocery shopping, cleaning, cooking just let the kids have fun in the sun in the beach or pool of the hotel, enjoy time with friends and family, simply relax. Short vacations are sometimes the ones we enjoy the most knowing we have little time to spare. Back when we use to rent an apartment in Benidorm, Alicante or Torrevieja but that is no vacation at all because the chores of a house are still in demand. When on vacation, a hotel is the way to go, let the staff and amenities cater to you. There are hotels for all budgets in the Costa Blanca just choose your favorite.
