The president of the Generalitat, Francisco Camps inaugurated the Manuel García Gea Hospital in Torrevieja this month. With an estimatedcost of 43 million euros this facility provides 90 private rooms and the most technological equipment in the world of medicine. This is the second inaugurated hospital in the Costa Blanca Padre Jofré being the first.
The citizens of Torrevieja and its surrounding are very grateful due to the fact that a nearby hospital was much in need. There are currently four other hospitals under construction in the La Fe, Manises, Gandia and Denia areas.

One of the most intriguing places in Valencia is the Lonja de Mercaderes with its civil gothic architecture located near the market plaza. This building invites and transports you to a far away place in the past with its beauty typical of the middle ages.
Built in 1498, this historical building has magnificent decorations surrounded by splendid religious relics and is rich in past memories. Another odyssey in the world of the Costa Blanca you can’t afford to miss.

It is not surprising that Alicante, the city of Turrón enter in to the Guinness Book of World Records (that makes two records this year for the Costa Blanca, with The Dame of Elche being the proud owner of the other one).
The Turrón measured 1.6 centimetres in width and 30 meters in length with a weight of 140 kilos. It was created by Master Turrón crafter Roberto Pico Paya and his team.
We can now say that the holiday season has begun. I would love to get a taste of this special treat but I don’t think there is going to be enough to go around..

Time is running out before Santa and the Three Kings arrive bearing gifts for the little ones and what does that mean? Yes, it means it is time to go shopping. One of my favorite stores is Imaginarium where you can find creative and educational toys.
With stores all around the Costa Blanca, you will find a large variety of toys for babies through 14 year olds. This magical store offers many personalized gifts, books, puzzles, everything you need to make your child use his or her imagination.
You could become a member of their Imagenarium club and receive different discounts as well as a birthday letter which gives you gift ideas appropriate for your child’s age (my son received his yesterday and he was thrilled).
Happy Shopping.

Circus life is not an easy one but at the same time it is very interesting and curious. Every time I get a chance to go see a circus I´am there. I had the opportunity to visit the Italian circus yesterday with my children and we were very impressed with the production.
It is not Cirque du Soleil but this small circus offers many laughs and surprises. with elephants, giraffes and talented acrobats this is a fun and entertaining show.
Located in San Vicente, It has been extended until the end of this month.

The Costa Blanca now has its very own Anti Aging clinic . The renowned Clinique de Paris which was founded 10 years a go by Dr. Claude Chauchard, with clinics in France, London, Hong Kong and China among others, now adds Alicante to its prestigious list.
This clinic offers antiaging therapies such as hormonal balancing, cellular revitalization, and nutritional strategies all as prevention measures to the symptoms of aging. They promise to improve your energy levels, memory, and give you an overall well being.
I have visited the clinic and I was very impressed by its non clinical approach and easy going staff which makes you feel right at home. You can relax on their beautiful terrace and sip a cup of herbal tea and forget about the time.

Who doesn’t love a great glass of wine or cava? Well, I don’t personally know anyone. Here is the Costa Blanca we have many great wineries which need to be explored. One of my favourites in the Torre Oria in the outskirts of Valencia.
Torre Oria invites you to get to know their winery and take a guided tour of their premises and get to know the history of their company. All visitors will have the opportunity to try all products free of charge and then have the possibility of purchasing desired products from their stores.

Monday through Friday: 09:00 to 14:00 and 15:30 to 18:00
Saturdays 10:00 to 14:00
In November and December special weekend hours:
Saturday’s 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 18:00

Rain, rain go away come back another day…we could sing this and try t make ourselves feel better but when you live or are here for a visit in the Costa Blanca you are used to the sun and the great weather, so when it starts to rain, we get depressed and stay indoors. There is no absolutely no need to stay in doors when there is bad weather outside. There are many indoor activities throughout the Costa Blanca such as movie theatres, museums, shopping malls and many more that we could enjoy. There is a great website called this is costablanca.net that has a lot of great ideas for you to choose from.
Enjoy the outdoors, indoors..
